The H-Rotor VAWT (Vertical Axis Wind Turbine) has no tail, furling system or slip rings (electrical rotary joints), the vertical configuration is capable of generating power at very high efficiencies (see ref.1). It has few parts and a fast build-time, the airfoil blades take less than 30 minuites to construct with a belt sander.
The H-Rotor VAWT has two airfoil blades, two arms, hub, electric generator, motor and braking system.

The controller monitors the wind speed with an anemometer and uses the motor to self-start the wind turbine in low wind speeds. The brake is activated during high wind speeds to prevent self-destruction.

Beaufort deawings : “Over thousands of years sailors have learnt to estimate the speed of the wind just by looking about. This technique matured into what we now call the Beaufort Scale. The universe tells you everything you need to know about it as long as you are prepared to watch, to listen, to smell, in short to observe.”…. Howtoons 2006
